CHANGES IN DEED—The sales boon continues with 17 houses changing hands since the end of last season. It’s looking up on Cayuga. Niza Shor-Egan is the new owner of #6 Cayuga, a raucous rental and #1 (built by Selengut sold to Paolini) was resold to Esther and Michael Moss… Sherry Klein deeded #20 Seneca to Rebecca and Robert Kuhar and two Seneca rentals changed deeds: #30 (was Shipp) to Joseph Mucciacio and #2 (was Kreloff) to Theresa & Patrick Colgan… Janet Barber moved out of #74 Baywalk… At the ocean, #66 was sold by Apuzzo to Denise and Kevin Ryan and Mattais Clamer and Corey Pak purchased #48 from Adelman… The new faces on Champlain include Dan Donahue at #31 (was Claire Clark) and the new owners at the corner are David Weinstein at #56 (was Wheeler), Matthew Doyle at #64 (was Spanier) and Gary Thai at #19 Champlain (was Rosner/Larson). At #17 Champlain you’ll find the recently completed Farina house (was Mindes land)… Lonnie Vannoni sold #6 Oneida (his mom, Lena’s house) to Joy Tosini and Peter Waide… the Rubins sold both houses and moved to Seaview. Jason Brown is Lord of the Manor at #35 Oneida and Katherine Noto reigns at #19 Huron, (the Langberg house that Randy and Woody bought last year but didn’t move into). #35 Ocean Bay Blvd. had a string of owners. Originally built by Frank Flynn, sold to Steve Knopp and then to Bob Pols. The ownership in limbo after Bob’s disappearance was eventually secured by Billy Svingos and quickly flipped to Michael Deletto...
THIS AND THAT— Joyce and Irwin Hunt’s house “The Boxkite” will be featured in “Leisurama” in Ocean Beach’s Golden Wagon Film Festival at 2pm on Sunday 7/17. The film is a documentary on the architect Andrew Geller who designed their house and four others in OBP: “The Boathouse” (for Dan Kahn). “The Butterfly” (for David Pollack) on Seneca, “The Church House” (for Dick Saltzman) on Ocean Bay Blvd, and “The Fort” (for Sy and Millie Freed) on Michigan. If you miss the OB showing, tune into Channel 13 PBS at 8 PM 8/27 or 7 PM 8/28… Chris Jr. and Luke Beermann switched from softball bats to lacrosse sticks. They are off-island this week attending lacrosse camp and with Bridget at Grandma Joann’s, Elaine and Chris will have a rare weekend to themselves without the kiddies… Geula Bensimon’s daughter, Malka Gilboa flew in from Israel and will spend the summer with mom... After eight years of togetherness Kathy and Stephen Huggins (condo owners at the motel) decided it was time to wed and wed they did Thursday, July 7, on the deck of the Seashore Motel. A cocktail reception at the Inn Between followed the ceremony…
MILESTONES CELEBRATION—Brooke Trent planned to celebrate hers at the Pines. But the weather didn’t cooperate so Gwen Verbeeck through an impromptu dinner Friday night for Brooke and friends… Ed Gans and “Watch That Basket” took over the firehouse Saturday to celebrate Eddie’s entry into the world of Social Security… There was a life sized cut-out to greet you as you entered and a bountiful table of “food, glorious food”. A carnivorous delight followed as master grill chef, Ed held court over smoking grills on the back deck, grilling sausage, chicken, ribs, steaks, legs of lamb, hamburgers and hot dogs. It was a perfect night —a perfect sunset, and a super perfect party…
