REMEMBER—The Zee Line and when the ferries docked at Flynn’s—Freddie and Pepe as Captains, Tim Flynn and Pat Shanahian as freight boys and the last boat was 8PM weather permitting … Flynn’s Snack Bar on the ocean at Oneida …The hotel as a Coast Guard Station with a lookout tower on the beach… Nightly blackouts before the new cable … No deer…No deer ticks… The Firehouse before the renovation… Our beautiful pines…Party line phones—if you were lucky enough to get one… Walking barefoot... A cement walk on the dune…Barney’s Market…Luke Kaufmann and Stone Roberts delivering for the Seaview Market … Louie Vannoni’s Hotel and Italian Restaurant opposite the firehouse …The Post Office on Cayuga and Baywalk …Frank Oakley surfcasting… Rusty Rogers holding court on the beach in a large fan chair…Rusty, James Amster, Howard Lanser, Agnes and Tim Gray et-al decorating The Bay House (now the Tennis Shop) for community theme dinners… OBPA Art Shows artfully displayed on houses and decks…

OBP Artists In Residence—Kathleen Elgin, Howard Lanser, Gerry Fritz, Marjorie Auerbach, Chrissy Harris, Sy Freed, Trudy Vogel, Marvin Davis, Mari Wettereau, Helen Lane, Yvonne Schwartz and others... Dr. Wolf Elkan’s remedy for most ailments - a dip with him in his hot tub… No co-ed houses… Flynn’s was the only game in town with Herman Lederberg and Russ Bastian tending bar, Tony Corrieri as a bouncer and Ken Thompson playing piano for the party boat crowd … Andy running Skimmers (now the Inn-Between) - and their piano bar... The Pizza Place was a bike shop run by Jim Lindsey’s dad…No Schooner… Bill Farrell and “The Bad Boys” organizing Labor Day beach Color War and Maurice Grossfeld (Sgt. Bilko’s Doberman) leading the parade to the gala that followed… Frank Gifford and Dave Debusschere visiting OBP… Seaplanes and wading out from the bay beach for the 20 minute ride to civilization…No DEC and Nat’l Seashore regs… When you knew everybody at Happy Hour… When a day-tripper was someone who came during the day to enjoy the beach – not a barstool… Beach taxis…Dancing the Madison in the Grove and going to Tea Dances in the Pines … Six-ish’s…Twelve foot plus dunes… No aches, no pains… Walter Wyss. THIS AND THAT —Jason Little proposed to Beth Gargiula Friday night—she said yes…Gretchen Hack and her adorable daughter Geordyn arrived for the summer. If you need a massage you can reach Gretchen at 583 8198… Another Floridian, Lorna Honecker (originally of South Africa) visiting Eleanor Ellix… Columbia honored Wally Lobo’s granddad, Santiago Eder by naming a highway after him for building the original highway from Palmira to Cali…Jay Cummings is a visionary—a woman on the ferry told him she played bridge with three guys but only when it rained, and without batting an eye he reeled off the names of the three guys … OB homeowner, Wally Elovitch (formerly of OBP) celebrated his milestone birthday in OBP at Friday’s Happy Hour… The Errico family threw a 70th Birthday Bash for Bob Errico (AKA the “Great One”) complete with ole fashioned live entertainment and rain – the later no deterrent…
